Invisalign and clear aligners in Colombia: what they cost
Every clear aligner brand that treats patients in Colombia, with its price in pesos exactly as it states it, why Invisalign publishes none, the check-ups treatment needs if you travel for it, and how to check a clinic and an aligner against Colombian rules.
Of the brands that treat patients in Colombia and publish a peso price, Wizz starts lowest: $3,390,000 COP for Wizz Standard (Colombia). Invisalign publishes no peso price (its doctors set the fee), and no Colombian clinic publishes its own. Treatment needs check-ups for months, so a trip from abroad is several trips.
The 2 brands you choose yourself, by peso price
Brands that treat patients in Colombia and that you order through the brand, lowest stated price first; each sees you at one of its own centres or branches, for the scan or the fitting. Each price is the brand's Colombian price exactly as it states it, opening the page that says so.
Wizz Standard (Colombia). Colombia price for the Standard plan (shown down from $4,150,000): aligners, X-ray, check-ups at no cost, and pickup and fitting at a Wizz branch.
Moons Lite (Colombia). Lite, for simple cases of spacing, malocclusion and rotation: all the aligners with the purchase and remote follow-up; additional retainers are not included. The 3D scan is taken at a Moons centre, and Moons says its prices include VAT.
2 systems fitted by Colombian orthodontists
Prescribed and fitted in person, and each orthodontist sets the fee. Invisalign: “Since every smile is unique, the orthodontists who specialise in the Invisalign system set the cost. For more information, talk to the nearest provider.” (our translation of “Dado que cada sonrisa es única, los ortodoncistas especializados en el sistema Invisalign determinan el costo. Para más información, habla con el proveedor más cercano.”, Invisalign Colombia) KeepSmiling: “Each aligner is made in our laboratory in Colombia, certified by INVIMA as a manufacturer of custom-made medical devices.” (our translation of “Cada alineador se fabrica en nuestro laboratorio en Colombia, certificado por el INVIMA como fabricante de dispositivos médicos sobre medida.”, KeepSmiling)
KeepSmiling (Colombia, via an orthodontist). KeepSmiling's Colombian price page gives this only as a general reference for a complete treatment, not a quote or a list price: the orthodontist sets the fee for its Fast, Medium or Full plan. Part can be paid in 12 interest-free instalments by credit card through SmilePay, the rest as agreed with the orthodontist.

Getting Invisalign in Colombia from abroad: the visits, and what US health bodies advise
Aligners are not a single appointment. Invisalign: “Your doctor will also schedule a series of regular, face-to-face check-ups to give you each new batch of aligners and monitor the progress of your new smile.” (Invisalign)
- The CDC. “Travelers may need to get health care in the United States if they develop complications after returning. Follow-up care for complications might be expensive.” (CDC) “Check the qualifications of the clinician who will be doing the procedure and the credentials of the facility where the procedure will be done.” (CDC)
- The American Dental Association. “You should consider arranging follow-up care with a U.S. dentist prior to travel to ensure continuity of care upon your return.” (ADA) And: “saving money overseas may lead to greater expense to your health and your wallet when you arrive back home.” (ADA)
- What the same treatment averages at home. CareCredit's survey of US practices puts clear aligners at $5,108 on average ($1,800 to $8,100). Brands that sell aligners direct in the US, each with its price: the best clear aligners; clinics that publish their Invisalign prices across the border: Invisalign in Mexico.
What Colombian law and Invima say
The CDC's advice to check the clinician and the facility has a Colombian answer: a register of providers and an authorisation from the local Health Secretariat. In each source's own words, with our translation:
- The clinic. “Every health service provider must be entered in the Special Register of Health Service Providers (REPS), registering at least one site with physical premises and at least one authorised service.” Have dental treatment with dental professionals who hold the authorisation issued by the relevant territorial Health Secretariat.” (our translation of “Realizar tratamientos odontológicos con profesionales en odontología que cuenten con la habilitación emitida por la Secretaría de Salud territorial correspondiente.”, Invima) And Ley 35 de 1989: “Dental services rest on the patient's free choice of dentist.” (our translation of “Los servicios odontológicos se fundamentan en la libre elección del odontólogo por parte del paciente.”, Ley 35 de 1989)
- The aligners. “Selling aligners, braces and other orthodontic devices through social media or informal channels calls for special caution, since these products must have a sanitary registration and professional supervision.” (our translation of “La comercialización de alineadores, brackets y otros dispositivos de ortodoncia a través de redes sociales o de canales informales requiere especial precaución, ya que estos productos deben contar con registro sanitario y supervisión profesional.”, Invima) “Resolution 214 of 2022 sets the sanitary requirements that custom-made oral medical devices (DMSMB) must meet” (our translation of “Resolución 214 de 2022 establece los requisitos sanitarios que deben cumplir los Dispositivos Médicos Sobre Medida Bucal (DMSMB)”, Invima) Its advice to buyers: “Do not buy braces, dental aligners or other dental devices through social media, informal sales or unauthorised platforms, especially when they are offered at prices well below the market.” (our translation of “Abstenerse de adquirir brackets, alineadores dentales u otros dispositivos odontológicos a través de redes sociales, ventas informales o plataformas no autorizadas, especialmente cuando se ofrezcan a precios significativamente inferiores al mercado.”, Invima)
- Who pays. “public resources assigned to health may not be used to fund services and technologies that meet any of the following criteria” (our translation of “los recursos públicos asignados a la salud no podrán destinarse a financiar servicios y tecnologías en los que se advierta alguno de los siguientes criterios”, Ley 1751 de 2015), the first being “That their main purpose is cosmetic or a luxury, unrelated to restoring or keeping a person's functional or vital capacity” (our translation of “Que tengan como finalidad principal un propósito cosmético o suntuario no relacionado con la recuperación o mantenimiento de la capacidad funcional o vital de las personas”, Ley 1751 de 2015)
